Bitcoin advanced more than 1% during Monday’s Asian trading session, setting up a potential five-day winning streak, its longest stretch of gains since early October. Prices rose from roughly $91,480 to $92,500, briefly topping $93,000, according to CoinDesk data.

The rally extended across major tokens. XRP climbed to about $2.18, Solana (SOL) traded near $135, and Ether (ETH) hovered around $3,180. The CoinDesk 20 and CoinDesk 80 indexes gained 1.5%, pointing to improving sentiment across the broader crypto market.

“Market sentiment is improving, with both Bitcoin and Ethereum moving into bullish trend regimes,” said Markus Thielen, founder of 10x Research. He said conditions turned more constructive after the late-December options expiry, as tax-loss selling eased and trading desks regained flexibility to add risk in the new year.

Crypto markets had remained under pressure through December as U.S.-based investors reportedly sold at a loss to offset capital gains. Bitcoin underperformed assets such as the Nasdaq and gold in 2025, ending the year down around 6%.

The latest advance comes as geopolitical tensions have resurfaced following the U.S. capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Analysts say the move reflects growing demand for perceived safe-haven assets, with gold and silver rallying sharply. Oil prices, however, stayed relatively contained near $60 per barrel.

Looking ahead, Bitcoin’s near-term bias remains positive as long as it holds above its 21-day exponential moving average, Thielen said. Support has also come from renewed ETF demand, with the 11 spot bitcoin ETFs recording more than $471 million in inflows on Friday, the strongest single-day total since Nov. 11, according to SoSoValue.
