Record Operating Profit Overshadowed by Strategy CFO Andrew Kang’s Resignation
Strategy is set to replace its chief financial officer after Andrew Kang submitted his resignation, with the executive’s departure coming during a quarter in which the company generated a record $21 billion in operating income.
The bitcoin treasury firm said in a Thursday filing that Kang will leave the CFO position on Nov. 5. Strategy currently holds 848,517 BTC, making it the largest publicly traded corporate bitcoin investor.
Kang informed the company on Oct. 26 that he was resigning for personal reasons. Strategy stated that his decision was “not the result of any disagreement” over the company’s operations, policies or practices.
He will continue assisting the business as an adviser through Dec. 31.
Reza Virasteh, Strategy’s executive vice president of operations, will succeed Kang starting Jan. 1. He will share the principal financial officer responsibilities with President and CEO Phong Le, who will oversee the finance division during the transition.
Under the revised arrangement, Le will remain responsible for bitcoin strategy, capital markets, treasury management and investor relations. Virasteh will concentrate on financial oversight and budgeting for the company’s software operations.
Strategy also disclosed that it had secured $21 billion in capital since the start of the year. Its bitcoin holdings reached 848,517 BTC as of Oct. 25, up 26% from the beginning of 2026.
Despite the record operating performance, Strategy’s stock declined 6.4% in Friday’s premarket trading. Bitcoin was down 3.3% over the previous 24 hours, while the company’s STRC preferred shares held steady at $99.45.
