Earnings Miss by Samsung Fuels Uncertainty as Bitcoin Trades Below $64,000
Ripple has received full approval under MiCA, allowing it to serve payments firms, financial institutions, corporations, and businesses across all 30 countries in the European Economic Area. On Monday, the company announced that Luxembourg upgraded its initial Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization to a full license under EU regulations. This approval enables Ripple to expand its crypto services across the entire EEA.
Cassie Craddock, Ripple’s Managing Director for Europe and the U.K., stated that the authorization positions the company to operate fully compliant in the post-transitional MiCA landscape and scale its operations.
With this license, Ripple joins a limited group of crypto firms fully authorized under MiCA, which officially came into full effect on July 1 after being enacted three years ago. Firms lacking authorization are required to cease operations in the region. Ripple had initially secured a provisional license in June.
Many firms, including crypto exchange Binance, did not meet the requirements in time. Under MiCA rules, companies licensed in one EU country can extend their services throughout the bloc.
Earlier this year, Ripple also obtained full Electronic Money Institution (EMI) approval from Luxembourg’s CSSF, enabling it to expand regulated payment services across the EU.
