Strategy Adds More Bitcoin, Spending $75 Million Last Week
Strategy has resumed its bitcoin purchases, acquiring 950 BTC last week after going roughly three weeks without adding to its holdings.
The company paid $75.7 million for the latest bitcoin purchase, with an average cost of $79,670 per BTC, according to a regulatory filing released Monday. Strategy said the acquisition was financed through its USD reserve.
The company also spent $174 million in USD cash on STRC repurchases and directed $57.4 million from its reserve toward dividends for preferred shareholders. After those transactions, Strategy’s USD reserve was $5 billion, alongside $1 billion in USD cash.
The purchase lifted Strategy’s bitcoin stash to 846,000 BTC. Led by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, the company has invested a total of $63.81 billion in bitcoin, with an average acquisition price of $74,417 per coin.
MSTR shares climbed 7% in premarket trading as bitcoin advanced to about $84,500. BTC was trading 4.5% higher over the prior 24 hours.
