ETH Whale Adds $63M Worth of Ethereum, Hinting at a Possible Price Recovery
A major Ethereum investor has made a substantial move during the latest market downturn, purchasing nearly $63 million worth of ETH as prices slipped below $2,300. The sizeable acquisition has drawn attention to whale activity, with investors questioning whether large holders believe Ethereum is nearing a price bottom.
Blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain reported that the whale accumulated 27,553 ETH within five hours, paying an average of $2,286 per coin. This followed an earlier purchase of 16,658 ETH funded with approximately $38 million in USDC.
Following these transactions, the investor’s total ETH purchases surpassed $62 million. The aggressive accumulation suggests that the whale is willing to commit significant funds even as Ethereum continues to experience market pressure.
Rather than waiting for a clear bullish reversal, the investor appears to be taking advantage of lower prices to increase exposure to ETH.
$63 Million Whale Bet Raises Ethereum Bottom Predictions
Large-scale accumulation during market corrections often attracts attention because major investors may use periods of weakness to establish positions ahead of a potential recovery. The whale’s rapid purchase of tens of thousands of ETH indicates considerable interest in the cryptocurrency at current prices.
However, there is no confirmation of the investor’s underlying strategy. The accumulation could reflect a long-term bullish outlook, a short-term trading opportunity, or portfolio and liquidity management.
The scale of the investment nevertheless makes it worth monitoring. With more than $62 million committed to ETH, the investor stands to benefit considerably from a potential rebound. Its average entry price of approximately $2,286 also gives traders a reference point when evaluating future wallet movements.
If Ethereum maintains an upward trajectory above this level, the whale’s position could reinforce expectations of a recovery. Additional purchases or continued holding may strengthen the accumulation narrative. In contrast, substantial transfers to exchanges could signal preparations to sell or take profits.
Ethereum Fundamentals Strengthen the Long-Term Outlook
Beyond whale transactions, Ethereum’s network fundamentals provide another important element of the bullish argument.
The blockchain supports approximately $44.5 billion in decentralized finance total value locked, maintaining its leadership among smart contract networks. Furthermore, around 36% of ETH’s total supply is staked, leaving a significant share of the cryptocurrency committed to securing the network.
The combination of strong DeFi participation and substantial staking activity highlights Ethereum’s continued ecosystem demand. These factors may help support long-term investor confidence, even when short-term price movements remain volatile.
Nevertheless, whale accumulation alone cannot confirm that ETH has reached its market bottom. A sustainable reversal would require broader buying participation and continued strength in the cryptocurrency market.
Can ETH Establish Support Near $2,300?
Ethereum’s next move could depend heavily on its ability to defend the $2,280–$2,300 region. Sustained buying interest around this range may help ETH establish a stronger base and create conditions for a potential rebound.
If the cryptocurrency manages to move higher and maintain its gains, the whale’s recent accumulation could prove strategically timed. Such a recovery may also encourage other investors to consider entering the market during the correction.
For now, traders are closely watching whether the nearly $63 million purchase signals growing confidence among Ethereum whales or represents an isolated investment made amid persistent market uncertainty.
