CZ Sees No AI Threat to Bitcoin, but Can BTC Rebound From $81,000 Amid Data Leak Concerns?

Bitcoin News: CZ Warns of AI-Powered Scams as BTC Struggles to Hold $81,000

Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao has dismissed fears that artificial intelligence could soon crack Bitcoin’s cryptographic security, highlighting data leaks and AI-driven fraud as more immediate threats to cryptocurrency holders. On Friday, October 23, CZ explained that Bitcoin uses cryptographic principles similar to those protecting online banking and internet communications. His comments came as BTC traded at $81,817, down 0.8% over the previous 24 hours.

Bitcoin remained above the $81,000 threshold overnight, while large wallets continued withdrawing substantial amounts of BTC from market maker Wintermute. Investors are now monitoring whether buyers can defend this level and initiate a recovery amid cybersecurity concerns, geopolitical uncertainty and changing expectations for Federal Reserve policy.

Bitcoin News: Why AI Scams Pose a More Immediate Threat

Artificial intelligence can identify software flaws and generate convincing fraudulent messages, but current AI systems cannot break the mathematical foundations of Bitcoin’s private-key security. CZ argued that any technology capable of compromising Bitcoin’s cryptography would also threaten the systems used to secure online banking and internet traffic.

Quantum computing remains a longer-term concern for the cryptocurrency industry. The Quantum Alliance, a coalition of nine crypto companies, estimates that 6.4 million BTC, or approximately 30% of Bitcoin’s total supply, are held in addresses with publicly exposed keys. This estimate includes coins attributed to Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

Experts disagree on when quantum computers might become capable of compromising current cryptographic standards. Richard Carback, CTO of Postquant Labs, considers 2028 a possible timeframe, although other specialists have refrained from making firm predictions.

Developers are exploring potential safeguards through BIP-360, a proposal intended to support quantum-resistant Bitcoin addresses. However, the proposal remains in draft form.

For ordinary investors, phishing and impersonation attacks present a more immediate risk. Criminals can exploit leaked email addresses, phone numbers and purchase histories to impersonate exchanges, wallet providers and other trusted services. AI allows scammers to create personalized messages at scale, making fraudulent communications more convincing and harder to detect.

Chainalysis data highlights the growing problem. AI-enabled scams generated 4.5 times more revenue per scam than traditional schemes in 2025, while impersonation scams increased by more than 1,400%. Total cryptocurrency scam revenue reached an estimated $17 billion.

CZ’s latest comments followed another security warning on Wednesday, when he urged users to remain cautious online after two critical PHP vulnerabilities reportedly exposed millions of servers to potential attacks.

Bitcoin Price Analysis: Can BTC Recover Above $84,900?

Bitcoin has defended the $81,000 support area during two recent tests. BTC dropped to $80,940 on Thursday and $81,118 on Friday, remaining above its 50-day exponential moving average at $80,880 on both occasions.

Wallet movements have also attracted attention. Since October 1, 40 newly created wallets have withdrawn 9,458 BTC, worth approximately $771.5 million, from Wintermute. Although new wallet addresses do not necessarily indicate fresh purchases, the activity is consistent with a potential accumulation trend.

The first major resistance zone lies between $82,100 and $82,850, where four-hour moving averages converge with a previous swing high. A sustained move above this range could strengthen the bullish outlook.

Bitcoin would then need to reclaim $84,900, Wednesday’s high, to demonstrate a more convincing recovery. On the downside, a daily close below $80,394 could expose BTC to further losses, with the 200-day EMA near $76,200 serving as the next important support level.

Oil Prices, Fed Policy and Elections Could Influence Bitcoin

Geopolitical tensions remain a significant risk for financial markets. Brent crude is trading near $114 per barrel amid disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz and the continuing U.S. blockade of Iranian oil. The New York Times reported that U.S. and Israeli forces had developed plans for possible renewed strikes against Iran following the midterm elections, although no operation had been approved.

Federal Reserve policy presents another challenge for Bitcoin bulls. The central bank raised its benchmark interest-rate range to 3.75%–4.00% in September. Prediction-market data compiled by DeFi Rate indicated approximately 94% odds of no rate change at the October 28 meeting, while the probability of another increase in December exceeded 70%.

The November 3 U.S. midterm elections could also affect cryptocurrency regulation. Polymarket assigned Democrats a 92.5% probability of winning the House of Representatives and a 68.5% chance of capturing the Senate. If Democrats gain control of Congress while Republicans retain the White House, advancing new crypto legislation could become more difficult next year.

Bitcoin’s near-term direction will likely depend on whether buyers can maintain support around $81,000 and push the price above $82,850. Although AI is not currently capable of breaking Bitcoin’s cryptographic protections, data breaches and increasingly sophisticated scams remain serious risks for users. Meanwhile, oil prices, interest-rate expectations and U.S. political developments could play a greater role in determining whether BTC rebounds or continues lower.
