Another Senior Leader Leaves Ethereum Foundation as Hsiao-Wei Wang Exits Role

Hsiao-Wei Wang has resigned from her role as co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation (EF), extending a wave of leadership departures that has reshaped the organization in recent months.

In a statement posted on X on Thursday, Wang announced that she would be stepping down effective immediately. She said the decision followed a recent sabbatical that gave her time to reflect on her personal goals and future aspirations.

According to Wang, the break provided valuable perspective and ultimately led her to conclude that it was the right time to move on from her leadership position.

Her resignation comes on the heels of Tomasz Stańczak’s planned exit from the Ethereum Foundation. Stańczak, who also served as co-executive director, said earlier this year that he would depart after helping facilitate a leadership transition at the Switzerland-based nonprofit supporting Ethereum’s ecosystem.

During Wang’s leave of absence, Ethereum Foundation board member Bastian Aue helped oversee day-to-day leadership matters. Following the departures of both co-executive directors, Aue has taken on a larger role in guiding the organization through the transition.

The latest leadership change adds to growing uncertainty surrounding the Ethereum Foundation. Over the past five months, at least eight senior figures have left the organization, raising questions within the community about its governance structure, strategic priorities, and ability to maintain Ethereum’s competitive position in an increasingly crowded blockchain landscape.

In her farewell remarks, Wang highlighted Ethereum’s resilience and community-driven ethos, emphasizing that the network’s progress has always been the result of collective contributions rather than the efforts of any single leader or institution.
