From Jobs Numbers to Bitcoin Earnings: The Events That Could Shape Crypto Markets This Week
Crypto Week Ahead: Jobs Report, Earnings Season and Major Blockchain Events to Watch
Bitcoin entered the new week trading slightly below $63,000, with Friday’s U.S. employment report expected to be the biggest economic catalyst for determining whether the July recovery can continue. However, shifting developments around Iran could also play a larger role in influencing market sentiment.
A moderate slowdown in U.S. hiring could provide a favorable setup for cryptocurrencies and other risk assets. Such a result would ease fears of a weakening economy while keeping the Federal Reserve from becoming more likely to raise interest rates.
IG market analyst Tony Sycamore said a payroll gain of approximately 88,000 jobs, combined with an unchanged unemployment rate of 4.2%, would create a balanced “Goldilocks” scenario for investors.
Markets will also focus on the U.S. Treasury’s upcoming borrowing plans. JPMorgan strategist Jay Barry expects regular debt issuance to remain unchanged, limiting additional pressure on yields. However, larger-than-expected Treasury sales could push borrowing costs higher for businesses and consumers, potentially creating headwinds for crypto assets.
In addition to macroeconomic data, traders will monitor earnings reports from major crypto-related firms, including Circle, Galaxy, Block, and several bitcoin mining companies. Investors will also follow BIP-110, a Bitcoin proposal designed to temporarily restrict non-financial data storage on the network, as it enters its miner signaling phase.
With support currently below 3%, BIP-110 is unlikely to modify Bitcoin’s primary chain. Instead, if adoption remains limited, supporters may move to a smaller alternative network rather than changing Bitcoin’s main protocol.
