Crypto Week Preview: Markets Watch U.S. CPI, Earnings Reports and Bitcoin Momentum

Crypto Week Ahead: Inflation Data, Fed Signals and Earnings in Focus

A preview of the major events expected to impact crypto markets during the week starting July 13.

Cryptocurrency markets will be closely watching U.S. inflation reports and second-quarter earnings from major financial firms this week, as investors seek clues about the Federal Reserve’s rate outlook, economic conditions, and broader market risk appetite.

The latest consumer price index (CPI) figures for June are scheduled for release on Tuesday, followed by producer price index (PPI) data on Wednesday. These reports could influence expectations around the Fed’s future monetary policy decisions.

Markus Levin, co-founder of XYO, said a softer inflation reading could strengthen the argument for a more accommodative policy approach, which has historically created a favorable environment for bitcoin and other crypto assets.

However, stronger-than-expected inflation data could reduce expectations for interest-rate cuts, potentially increasing downside risks for bitcoin and opening the possibility of a drop below the $60,000 level.

Investors will also monitor quarterly results from leading U.S. banks, including JPMorgan, Citigroup, and Wells Fargo. Bank earnings are often viewed as a key indicator of economic health, offering insight into consumer activity, lending trends, and credit conditions.

Levin noted that strong loan growth, stable consumer spending, and healthy credit markets would support the view that the U.S. economy remains resilient, potentially improving sentiment across risk assets.

Geopolitical uncertainty will also remain in focus. Escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, along with concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, could add volatility to energy markets and influence broader financial assets, including cryptocurrencies.
