Robinhood Adds $25M in BTC to Corporate Treasury

Robinhood has allocated around $25 million to bitcoin, adding the cryptocurrency to its corporate balance sheet as public companies continue to build BTC treasury positions.

Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood’s senior vice president and general manager of crypto and international, disclosed the purchase Wednesday during The Starting Block interview at the Digital Asset Summit (DAS) Asia conference.

Kerbrat said the allocation reflects the company’s commitment to bitcoin and its broader ecosystem, while noting that the position is relatively small compared with Robinhood’s overall size.

“Robinhood is a massive company at this point, with a market cap in the $100 billion [range]. So the $25 million worth of bitcoin is not going to change a lot of the current trajectory of the company,” he said.

CoinDesk contacted Robinhood’s press team separately to ask whether the company plans to purchase additional BTC or other digital assets.

The purchase adds Robinhood to a growing group of publicly traded companies with bitcoin on their balance sheets. Strategy began its corporate bitcoin accumulation in 2020, and more than 170 companies globally have since adopted BTC treasury strategies. Tesla, Block, MARA Holdings, CleanSpark and Riot Platforms are among the other corporate holders, collectively accounting for well over 1.2 million BTC.

Robinhood has more than 28 million funded customers worldwide and has continued expanding its blockchain operations. In July, the company launched Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 built on Arbitrum and designed to support tokenized real-world assets and decentralized finance.

The network has since introduced tokenized stocks, the USDG stablecoin and yield-generating lending through Robinhood Earn. It also supports integrations with major crypto protocols and infrastructure providers, including Uniswap, Chainlink, Alchemy and BitGo.
