Metaplanet Joins MSCI Japan Index, Raises $26M to Expand Bitcoin Holdings
Metaplanet (3350), a Japanese firm focused on Bitcoin (BTC) accumulation, is set to be added to the MSCI Japan Index on February 28, according to CEO Simon Gerovich.
The MSCI Japan Index tracks mid-to-large-cap Japanese companies and serves as a benchmark for institutional investors globally. Metaplanet’s inclusion is expected to attract greater investor interest, passive capital inflows, and increased credibility within traditional financial markets.
Gerovich shared the news on X, emphasizing how this milestone further solidifies Metaplanet’s reputation as Asia’s premier Bitcoin Treasury company and expands its influence in international markets.
Additionally, Metaplanet confirmed a successful $26 million (4 billion yen) fundraising round through 0% unsecured, unguaranteed ordinary bonds. The company plans to use the capital to purchase additional Bitcoin, reinforcing its commitment to a Bitcoin-focused treasury strategy.
