Bitcoin’s Dip Below $80,000 Attracts Buyers as Asian Markets Bounce Back
Bitcoin bounced back to approximately $82,500 within two hours of briefly falling below $80,000, as buyers moved in to support prices. South Korean semiconductor stocks also recovered after recording their worst closing performance since April.
Bitcoin advanced 1.3% to nearly $82,000 during Friday’s Asian session, recovering from Thursday’s short-lived drop below the $80,000 mark. The rebound came alongside a broader recovery in Asian equity markets following the previous day’s sharp losses.
Zcash (ZEC) led the gains among major cryptocurrencies, climbing 8% to around $1,190. Solana, Ether, XRP and Tron each rose roughly 1%, while BNB remained largely unchanged, according to CoinDesk data.
Bitcoin’s dip below $80,000 lasted approximately two hours. During Thursday’s sell-off, BTC fell to around $79,800, breaching the $80,400 support level that buyers had defended twice in the previous week. Demand emerged again near the lows, lifting Bitcoin toward $82,500 within two hours. It then held above $81,000 throughout Asian trading.
Asian stock markets also rebounded as investors bought shares following Thursday’s downturn. MSCI’s Asia-Pacific equity index rose 1.3%, with about three stocks advancing for every one that declined. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix gained more than 2% each, while South Korea’s Kospi climbed nearly 3% after closing at its lowest level since April on Thursday.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company bucked the broader recovery, with its shares slipping despite an optimistic outlook. Lingering concerns about the scale of spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure continued to weigh on sentiment.
The bond market also reversed part of Thursday’s move toward safer assets. U.S. Treasury prices declined across maturities, pushing the 10-year yield up one basis point to 5.07%.
Investors are now watching Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, who is scheduled to speak at the IMF and World Bank meetings in Bangkok on Friday. His remarks come two days after September’s inflation data exceeded expectations, adding to uncertainty about the direction of U.S. monetary policy.
For Bitcoin, $84,000 remains a key level to watch. Wednesday’s rally following the inflation report lost momentum around that price. A sustained break above $84,000 would suggest that the recovery is backed by stronger buying demand and could have room to extend further.
