Ripple News: Privy Collaborates With Ripple on XRP Ledger Wallet Infrastructure

Privy is partnering with Ripple to bring programmable wallets to the XRP Ledger, targeting fintech products and payment services powered by AI agents. The collaboration is designed to support digital asset transactions, with additional policy-based safeguards and gas sponsorship expected in future updates.

In the latest Ripple news, Stripe-owned Privy announced the partnership on October 13, 2026, with the goal of helping developers integrate programmable wallets into applications built on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The wallets will support XRP, RLUSD, and other assets available on the network, creating opportunities for financial applications and automated payment services.

According to Privy, the XRP Ledger has more than 8 million funded accounts and has facilitated over $1 trillion in value transfers during its 14-plus years of operation. The partnership goes beyond conventional wallet integration by combining embedded wallets for consumer-facing applications with server-side wallets that allow software agents to store funds and execute transactions. It also opens potential use cases for x402 payments involving digital services.

The announcement comes as XRP/USD trades near $1.37, down 0.5% over the past 24 hours. The cryptocurrency has lost nearly 7% over the previous seven days, while daily trading volume has increased from $1.4 billion to $1.7 billion.

Ripple News: What the Privy Partnership Means for XRP Ledger Wallets

The integration will allow developers to create and manage XRPL wallets programmatically and use Privy’s infrastructure to sign transactions. Supported assets will include XRP, RLUSD, and other compatible ledger assets. Developers will also be able to incorporate x402 payment flows into applications designed for AI-driven commerce.

For fintech companies and payment providers, embedded wallets can simplify the addition of stablecoin functionality to existing platforms. Users can access these services without having to manage private keys themselves. Privy also allows users to export their private keys and seed phrases, helping them maintain control over their wallets and preserve the ability to move their assets.

The partnership also targets automated payments initiated by AI agents. Server-side wallets could enable software agents to pay for services such as API access, data, and computing resources through compatible x402 payment flows.

However, the announcement does not identify any businesses currently using the integration or disclose wallet creation figures, transaction volumes, or the extent of its commercial deployment.

Ripple and Privy point to the XRP Ledger’s fast settlement, relatively low transaction costs, and support for stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets as features that could benefit developers. These capabilities may make XRPL suitable for financial applications requiring efficient digital asset transfers.

Privy plans to expand the integration with transaction policy controls and gas sponsorship. Neither the release date nor the technical implementation of these features has been confirmed.

Programmable Wallets Could Support the Growth of AI Payments

Privy describes XRPL as a decentralized Layer 1 blockchain built to facilitate the transfer and exchange of digital assets. The company highlights the network’s more than 8 million funded accounts and over $1 trillion in transferred value as indicators of its established activity.

The partnership supports two wallet models with different purposes. Embedded wallets operate within fintech applications, allowing customers to access digital asset services without directly managing private keys for everyday transactions.

Server-side wallets, on the other hand, can hold funds for applications and facilitate authorized payments initiated by software agents. This structure could allow AI-powered systems to purchase digital services automatically, reducing the need for manual intervention in individual transactions.

Nevertheless, questions remain about how permissions will be enforced, how automated payments will be monitored, and who will be responsible for transactions initiated by AI agents. These considerations make the planned policy controls a significant part of the partnership.

Privy’s documentation outlines wallet management features that can restrict transaction types, limit payment destinations, and establish spending thresholds. Such safeguards could help developers define clear operating limits for automated payment systems.

Consequently, the integration is not just about enabling transactions. Effective controls will also be important as programmable wallets become more widely used in AI-driven financial applications.

RippleX Highlights the Potential for Financial Innovation

Markus Infanger, senior vice president of RippleX, said Privy’s wallet infrastructure could make it easier for fintech companies and developers to incorporate XRPL into practical financial products.

He highlighted potential applications across payment solutions, stablecoin services, and emerging AI-agent commerce. Infanger also cited the network’s fast settlement, low transaction costs, and native support for digital asset transfers as advantages for developers seeking to build scalable financial products.

For now, the announcement outlines the partnership’s intended capabilities rather than confirming broad commercial adoption. Ripple and Privy have not disclosed participating customers, the number of wallets created through the integration, or the volume of transactions processed.

The next steps are expected to include the introduction of policy controls and gas sponsorship. Until further technical details and deployment timelines are released, the integration’s adoption and its potential effect on XRP Ledger activity remain uncertain.
