Bitcoin and Gold Rally Faces a New Test as Warsh Prepares to Speak
Bitcoin’s Coinbase Premium has turned positive for the first time since May, hinting at a revival in U.S. buying activity as BTC continues to trade around the $80,000 threshold.
The change means Bitcoin is now priced higher on Coinbase than on Binance, suggesting comparatively stronger demand among traders using the U.S.-based exchange.
CoinGlass data shows the premium moved above zero on Friday after remaining negative for months. The indicator tracks the price difference between BTC on Coinbase and Binance and is frequently used to gauge demand from U.S. market participants.
The shift comes after Bitcoin rallied from approximately $63,000 to above $80,000, while investor appetite for U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs has also strengthened. Coinbase serves as a custodian for several of these funds.
According to SoSoValue, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have accumulated roughly $3.51 billion in inflows, the highest level since October 2025. BlackRock’s IBIT has been among the funds attracting significant investor capital.
A sustained Coinbase Premium has historically been associated with stronger U.S. demand for Bitcoin. When BTC consistently trades at a premium on Coinbase compared with Binance, it can indicate that U.S. buyers are willing to pay higher prices, a pattern that has often accompanied major Bitcoin uptrends.
The latest positive reading, however, does not guarantee that the signal will persist. Traders will likely watch whether the premium remains above zero as Bitcoin approaches its next major technical barrier.
The 50-week simple moving average currently sits near $81,000, making the area an important test for bulls. A sustained breakout above it could reinforce the current upward trend and open the path to further gains.
If Bitcoin fails to push through $81,000, the market could instead see another period of consolidation, even with signs that U.S. demand is beginning to improve.
