Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Returns — A Bullish Signal for the Next Move?

Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Returns — A Bullish Signal for the Next Move?

Bitcoin’s Coinbase Premium has returned to positive territory for the first time since May, signaling a potential pickup in U.S. demand as BTC continues to test the $80,000 threshold.

The reversal means Bitcoin is now trading at a higher price on Coinbase than on Binance, suggesting buyers on the U.S.-listed exchange are showing greater relative interest.

CoinGlass data shows the indicator crossed above zero on Friday, ending a months-long stretch below the positive threshold. The Coinbase Premium measures the difference between Bitcoin’s price on Coinbase and Binance and is closely monitored as an indicator of U.S. buying pressure.

The development follows Bitcoin’s sharp climb from about $63,000 to more than $80,000, accompanied by renewed inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs. Coinbase acts as a custodian for a number of these funds.

According to SoSoValue, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have attracted approximately $3.51 billion in capital, marking their strongest inflow period since October 2025. BlackRock’s IBIT has been among the leading funds driving demand.

The indicator is particularly important because a persistent Coinbase Premium has historically coincided with stronger Bitcoin demand from U.S. investors. When Coinbase prices remain above Binance, it can suggest that U.S.-based buyers are willing to pay a premium, a pattern often seen during broader Bitcoin bull markets.

However, a single positive reading does not confirm that the trend will continue. The premium will likely need to remain elevated for the signal to become more meaningful as Bitcoin approaches major technical resistance.

BTC is currently facing the 50-week simple moving average near $81,000. A decisive move above this level could reinforce the bullish setup and open the door to further gains.

Conversely, another rejection around $81,000 could keep Bitcoin locked in its recent trading range, even with U.S. demand showing signs of improvement.
