Telegram Adds TON Wallet for 87M Americans, Sending Toncoin on Fresh Leg Up
Toncoin Gains as Telegram Wallet Goes Live for 87M U.S. Users
Toncoin (TON) climbed 3% to $3.41 on Monday as Telegram officially began rolling out its native, self-custodial TON Wallet to 87 million users in the U.S., marking a major milestone in Web3 accessibility via mainstream platforms.
The wallet, developed by The Open Platform (TOP) and powered by The Open Network (TON) blockchain, enables users to send, receive, stake, and swap crypto directly within the Telegram app—without the need for external apps, extensions, or seed phrases.
This integration represents the first large-scale launch of a crypto wallet embedded in a mass-market messaging platform in the United States. CNBC reported that the development could mark a pivotal shift in how U.S. consumers interact with digital assets.
TOP CEO Andrew Rogozov said the U.S. launch was driven by improving regulatory clarity and the platform’s high engagement. “We now see the U.S. as a compelling opportunity,” he told CNBC. He also highlighted the wallet’s simplified recovery model, which splits the backup key between a user’s Telegram account and their email—eliminating the traditional reliance on seed phrases.
The wallet supports a wide range of features including zero-fee purchases via MoonPay, fiat on/off-ramps using debit cards, token swaps, staking, and integration with decentralized applications through Telegram’s “Mini Apps” platform.
As of publishing, TON was trading at $3.4121, posting a 3% gain over 24 hours. The token is up 12.2% on the week and 25.6% over the past 30 days, amid growing adoption and platform synergy.
