Metaplanet’s Bitcoin Holdings Top $930M Following Purchase of 1,088 BTC

Metaplanet Adds 1,088 BTC, Boosting Holdings to Over 8,888 Coins Worth $930 Million

On Monday, Japanese firm Metaplanet announced the purchase of 1,088 additional bitcoins, pushing its total bitcoin stash past 8,888 BTC. At current prices, this portfolio exceeds $930 million in value.

The recent acquisition cost Metaplanet about 16.885 billion yen ($117.5 million), averaging roughly 15.5 million yen ($108,051) per bitcoin, according to company disclosures.

Since officially adopting its Bitcoin treasury policy in April 2024, Metaplanet has aggressively built up its BTC reserves, becoming Asia’s largest corporate bitcoin holder and placing itself among the top ten globally.

In 2025 alone, Metaplanet has added 7,126 BTC, steadily approaching its goal of 10,000 BTC by year-end. This latest buy follows a $50 million zero-interest bond offering designed to raise funds for BTC purchases without diluting equity.

The company reported a year-to-date bitcoin yield of 66.3%, with net gains of 2,684 BTC—translating to approximately 40.5 billion yen.

Bitcoin traded just above $105,000 during Asian trading hours Monday, remaining largely steady over the past 24 hours.
