Metaplanet Moves Forward with Bond Sales to Purchase More Bitcoin

Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings With $13.4M Bond Issuance

Tokyo-based Metaplanet has issued 2 billion yen ($13.4 million) in zero-interest bonds, securing fresh capital to bolster its Bitcoin (BTC) reserves. The bonds, backed by stock acquisition rights, were fully allocated to Evo Fund, with a scheduled redemption date of September 17.

The company used a portion of the funds to acquire 150 BTC, valued at approximately $12.5 million, as part of its continued investment strategy. This move follows last week’s purchase of 162 BTC for $13.5 million at an average price of $83,123 per coin.

Metaplanet has been steadily increasing its Bitcoin holdings, capitalizing on price dips amid recent market volatility. BTC is currently trading around $83,300, down 24% from its January all-time high.

With this latest acquisition, Metaplanet now owns 3,200 BTC, worth an estimated $265 million, solidifying its position as the 10th-largest publicly traded company in terms of Bitcoin reserves, according to BitcoinTreasuries.net.
