Metaplanet Increases Bitcoin Holdings by 555 BTC, Will Raise Funds Through Debt Offering
Metaplanet Boosts Bitcoin Holdings, Sells $25M in Bonds to EVO FUND for Second Time
Japanese investment firm Metaplanet (3350) is doubling down on its Bitcoin strategy, announcing the sale of a second $25 million bond package to EVO FUND to finance further BTC accumulation.
The Tokyo-based firm disclosed the bond sale just days after finalizing a previous offering of the same size to the same buyer. According to an update posted on X (formerly Twitter), the bonds are non-interest-bearing and will mature on November 6.
Metaplanet also confirmed the purchase of 555 BTC for around 7.63 billion yen ($53.5 million), bringing its total Bitcoin stash to 5,555 BTC. That total places the firm as the largest non-North American public holder of Bitcoin, based on data from Bitcoin Treasuries.
Investor sentiment appeared to rally behind the move, with Metaplanet’s shares closing up 11.5% on Wednesday at 477 yen ($3.33).
