Metaplanet Acquires an Extra 2,205 BTC, Pushing Its Bitcoin Holdings Above 15,555
Metaplanet Increases Bitcoin Reserves With 2,205 BTC Purchase, Total Holdings Now Over 15,500
Metaplanet, a Tokyo-based firm, has further deepened its commitment to Bitcoin by acquiring 2,205 BTC, boosting its total holdings to 15,555 BTC, according to its latest financial disclosure on Monday.
The newly acquired bitcoin was bought at an average price of 15.64 million yen per BTC, amounting to approximately 34.49 billion yen ($213 million). This move brings the company’s cumulative investment in bitcoin to 225.82 billion yen ($1.38 billion), with an average purchase price of 14.52 million yen per bitcoin across all acquisitions.
To measure the performance of its Bitcoin treasury strategy, Metaplanet uses a proprietary performance indicator known as BTC Yield. This metric reflects the percentage increase in bitcoin per fully diluted share and accounts for any shareholder dilution.
For the second quarter ending June 30, BTC Yield came in at 95.6%, a decline from the previous quarter’s sharp 309.8%. Despite the drop, it still represents strong growth in BTC per share, reinforcing the company’s confidence in its long-term strategy.
Metaplanet also monitors related performance measures such as BTC Gain and BTC Yen Gain, which translate the BTC Yield into actual bitcoin quantity growth and yen-based returns. These additional metrics provide investors with more context on how the company’s bitcoin-focused strategy is enhancing shareholder value.
