ICP Slides 3% Following Resistance Test at $5.05

ICP Hits $5.05 Before Pullback as On-Chain AI Milestone Boosts Activity
September 9, 2025

Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) climbed to $5.05 after the network’s Ignition milestone enabled large language models (LLMs) to run directly on-chain, opening new opportunities for AI-powered decentralized applications (dapps).

ICP traded in a volatile $0.22 corridor, testing support at $4.83 before surging to its intraday high. CoinDesk Research flagged $4.83 as a key accumulation level, with 348,793 units exchanging hands during early buying activity.

The rally stalled at $5.05, where selling pressure created a short-term ceiling. Prices consolidated around $4.97 before a late attempt to reach $4.99, but renewed selling drove ICP down to $4.93. At the time of writing, the token was trading just under $4.90, approximately 3% below its intraday peak.

Volume spiked sharply, with more than 170,000 units traded between 14:01–14:03 UTC, signaling potential stop-loss executions or systematic liquidations.

Beyond technical factors, the Ignition upgrade represents a major step for ICP’s ecosystem. Developers can now create AI-driven dapps capable of automatically generating smart contracts, advancing toward a “self-writing Internet” where even non-technical users can deploy decentralized applications using natural language instructions.

Technical Summary:

  • Trading range: $4.83 support → $5.05 resistance
  • Accumulation confirmed at $4.83 (348,793 units)
  • Rally peak and pullback: $5.05 → $4.93
  • Volume spike: 170,000+ units (14:01–14:03 UTC)
  • Short-term support: $4.93
  • Resistance remains entrenched at $5.05
