“BTC hashrate hits all-time high: 1 ZettaHash/sec (7DMA).”
Bitcoin’s mining power has reached a historic level, sustaining 1 zettahash per second (ZH/s) on a seven-day moving average for the first time, Glassnode data shows.
The achievement marks a major leap in network strength. To compare, 1 ZH/s equals 1,000 exahashes per second (EH/s)—a level unimaginable when Bitcoin first crossed 1 EH/s back in 2016. This year alone, hashrate has climbed from roughly 800 EH/s to today’s record high.
The surge in computational power is set to trigger a difficulty adjustment of over 7% within days, the second-largest upward change of 2025. Difficulty resets every two weeks to maintain Bitcoin’s steady block production time of about 10 minutes. Following the move, network difficulty is expected to reach 138.96 trillion.
This milestone highlights both accelerating miner investment and the growing resilience of Bitcoin’s security architecture.
