Bitwise Sets Bold Target: Bitcoin at $1.3 Million Within a Decade
Bitcoin Could Soar to $1.3M by 2035, Says Bitwise in Long-Term Outlook
Bitwise Asset Management has issued an ambitious long-term projection for bitcoin (BTC), forecasting that the cryptocurrency could reach $1.3 million by 2035 as institutional demand accelerates and macroeconomic conditions align in its favor.
In a report released Thursday, analysts at Bitwise highlighted bitcoin’s potential to become the best-performing institutional asset over the next decade. The firm’s target reflects a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 28.3%, vastly outpacing traditional financial assets.
The forecast comes amid renewed momentum for BTC, which is now trading above $100,000 following improved regulatory clarity and a surge in institutional participation.
Key Drivers of Growth
Bitwise attributed its bullish outlook to three major factors:
- Institutional Maturity: Bitcoin’s increasing legitimacy as a professional-grade investment vehicle.
- Inflation Hedge Appeal: Growing interest in hard assets as protection against long-term inflation risks.
- Fixed Supply Dynamics: Bitcoin’s hard-coded limit of 21 million coins, which enforces scarcity.
Evolving Market Cycles
The firm also argued that bitcoin’s historical four-year halving cycle — long used by traders to anticipate price trends — is becoming less relevant in a maturing market shaped increasingly by macroeconomic drivers.
Still, the report emphasized that volatility will remain a key characteristic, even if it declines relative to past cycles.
Caution Amid Optimism
Bitwise acknowledged the challenges of forecasting such long-term price action, citing regulatory shifts, technological risks, and the lack of long-term historical data as significant uncertainties. While emerging threats like quantum computing were noted, the firm categorized them as secondary concerns for now.
“We’ve aimed to keep our assumptions conservative,” the report said, underscoring that while bitcoin’s upside potential is vast, its path forward will not be without disruption.
