Bitcoin’s Rally to $93K Triggers $550M in Losses for Bears Amid Massive Liquidations

Futures contracts tied to ADA, XRP, and SOL saw over $70 million in liquidations each on Sunday, their highest levels since September 2024, according to Coinglass data.

The market saw nearly $600 million in losses for bearish traders after President Donald Trump’s announcement of a U.S. strategic crypto reserve fueled an unexpected surge across multiple assets.

With Sunday trading typically marked by lower liquidity, price movements were amplified as it took less capital to drive assets higher. Cardano’s ADA soared 60% in 24 hours, while XRP and Solana’s SOL gained 25%. Bitcoin (BTC) also climbed 9% in the same period.

BTC-tracked futures led market-wide liquidations, with over $344 million in long and short positions wiped out, followed by $170 million in liquidations for ETH-tracked futures.

Open interest—representing the total number of active futures contracts—has surged by as much as 40% for XRP, ADA, and SOL, suggesting traders anticipate further volatility.
