AUSTRAC Registration Enables Gemini to Grow Its Australian Operations
Gemini Launches Australian Operations Following AUSTRAC Registration
Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has officially expanded into Australia after securing registration with AUSTRAC, the country’s financial intelligence and anti-money laundering regulator.
The Australian arm, Gemini Intergalactic Australia Pty Ltd, is now licensed to offer crypto exchange services, enabling residents to trade cryptocurrencies using the AUD. Australia’s crypto adoption rate has surged to 22%, putting it on par with the U.S., according to Gemini’s Global State of Crypto Report 2025.
Saad Ahmed, Head of APAC at Gemini, emphasized, “Australia’s rapidly growing digital asset market is a key part of our Asia-Pacific growth strategy.”
To lead local operations, Gemini appointed James Logan as Head of Australia. Logan brings extensive experience from prior roles at Luno and Bitget and will focus on building a safe, transparent, and compliant ecosystem for both retail and institutional clients.
