Chipper Cash and Ripple Join Forces to Expand XRP-Based Transactions Across Africa
Ripple and Chipper Cash Partner to Revolutionize Cross-Border Payments in Africa
Chipper Cash, a leading African payments provider with five million customers across nine countries, has teamed up with Ripple to streamline cross-border payments into the continent using blockchain technology.
The partnership integrates Ripple Payments, which leverages XRP to facilitate faster, more cost-effective global transactions compared to traditional banking systems. With this collaboration, Chipper Cash aims to enhance financial inclusion by offering seamless, 24/7 access to international remittances, eliminating the inefficiencies of conventional transfer methods.
“Our partnership with Chipper Cash marks a key milestone in the expansion of Ripple’s business in Africa,” said Reece Merrick, Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa. “The growing adoption of blockchain-powered solutions is transforming the region’s financial landscape, and we are excited to introduce our crypto-enabled payments to support businesses and consumers.”
This move strengthens Ripple’s footprint in Africa, following its 2023 collaboration with Onafriq, a payments network bridging multiple African markets.
Despite the announcement, XRP has declined 4.5% in the last 24 hours, mirroring a broader market downturn.
