MARA Moves Bitcoin Worth $81.1M to Galaxy Digital as Mining Strategy Evolves

MARA Holdings, a Bitcoin mining company expanding into artificial intelligence and high-performance computing, has transferred about 996 BTC worth $81.13 million to a wallet linked to Galaxy Digital, according to data tracked by Lookonchain.

The transaction does not confirm that the Bitcoin was sold. A transfer to an address associated with Galaxy Digital alone is insufficient to establish that the firm executed a sale.

MARA has been diversifying beyond its core Bitcoin mining operations as it develops its AI and high-performance computing businesses. The company has also started selling portions of its Bitcoin reserves to strengthen its balance sheet and support its changing business priorities.

In March, MARA sold 15,133 BTC for approximately $1.1 billion, using most of the proceeds to repurchase convertible debt.

Historical data from Bitcoin Treasuries shows that the Florida-based miner held 53,822 BTC on February 26. Its Bitcoin reserves declined over the following months, reaching 35,577 BTC by August 7.

The latest $81.13 million transfer comes as MARA continues to manage its Bitcoin treasury while shifting more attention toward AI and computing infrastructure.

MARA shares climbed 2% in premarket trading on Friday to around $10. Bitcoin, meanwhile, moved back above $82,000 over the preceding 24 hours.
