Coinbase Acquires Iron Fish Developers to Strengthen Base’s Privacy Features.

Coinbase Brings Iron Fish Team on Board to Strengthen Privacy on Base

Coinbase has acquired the core team behind Iron Fish, a privacy-focused blockchain project, to enhance privacy features on its layer 2 network, Base. However, the Iron Fish blockchain and its native token will remain independent under the Iron Fish Foundation and will not be affiliated with Coinbase or Base.

As part of the deal, key Iron Fish developers, including CEO Elena Nadolinski and Jason Spafford, will join Coinbase to establish a dedicated privacy-focused team within Base. Their goal will be to develop advanced privacy-preserving tools for on-chain transactions.

Coinbase emphasized that privacy is an essential component of blockchain technology, stating that it is “not optional” but a “core building block.” The company aims to integrate robust privacy solutions into Base, allowing developers to build more secure and regulatory-compliant decentralized applications.

Nadolinski will continue to serve on the Iron Fish Foundation’s board, ensuring that the Iron Fish blockchain maintains its independence while benefiting from her ongoing leadership.
