Bitcoin (BTC) surpassed $98,000 during Thursday’s Asian trading hours after Eric Trump, the son of U.S. President Donald Trump, urged the family-backed crypto platform to make a bitcoin investment.

Eric Trump tweeted, “Feels like a great time to enter BTC, @worldlibertyfi,” at 1:41 UTC, causing BTC prices to spike from $96,900 to $97,830. The CME micro futures also breached the $98,000 mark, according to data from TradingView.

Earlier this week, David Sacks, the Trump administration’s AI and crypto czar, revealed that discussions were underway regarding a potential strategic bitcoin reserve. However, his comments left some in the crypto community wanting more immediate action, as many had hoped for a faster approach.
