MetaMask Launches $30M Rewards Program Tied to Upcoming Token

MetaMask announced a new onchain rewards initiative this weekend, earmarking over $30 million in Linea tokens for its inaugural season. The program is designed to drive activity on ConsenSys’ Ethereum layer-2 network, Linea, and integrate the wallet’s mUSD stablecoin.

The project is described as “one of the largest onchain rewards programs ever built,” with MetaMask stressing that it is focused on rewarding users rather than token farming. Incentives will include referral bonuses, mUSD rewards, exclusive partner perks, and early access to the anticipated MetaMask token. Early adopters are set to receive special benefits, with the team noting, “OGs will not be ignored.”

Linea, which launched in September alongside a 9.4 billion token airdrop, now links closely with MetaMask Rewards to boost network engagement. MetaMask’s mUSD stablecoin, issued by Stripe-owned Bridge, currently has a circulating supply of about $88 million, creating layered incentives across wallet, stablecoin, and layer-2 infrastructure.

MetaMask has not yet detailed jurisdictional exclusions or anti-Sybil measures, leaving open questions about program security and preventing abuse by opportunistic participants.
