Polygon PoS Faces Transaction Finality Issues, Patch in Progress
Polygon PoS Network Faces Transaction Finality Delays, Patch Being Deployed
10/9/2025
Polygon’s proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain is experiencing slower transaction finality, with confirmations running 10–15 minutes behind schedule, even as block production continues normally.
Finality guarantees that a transaction or data is irreversible once confirmed on the blockchain. The slowdown has been linked to a bug affecting certain Bor/Erigon nodes and RPC providers, forcing some validators to resync from the last finalized block. While many resolved the issue through node restarts, others required a full resynchronization.
The Polygon Foundation confirmed on X that a patch has been identified and is being rolled out to validators and service providers.
The incident follows the recent Heimdall v2 upgrade, which promised 5-second finality through an updated consensus stack.
Polygon’s native token, POL, dropped roughly 3% in early U.S. trading, trading near $0.26 amid the temporary slowdown.
