Tokyo’s Metaplanet Now Holds 10K BTC, Leaps Ahead of Coinbase in Global Ranking
Metaplanet, the Tokyo-listed investment company (TSE: 3350), has climbed into the global top 10 of corporate bitcoin holders after acquiring 1,112 BTC for $117.2 million, averaging $105,435 per coin.
The latest purchase boosts its total holdings to 10,000 BTC, pushing it ahead of U.S.-based Coinbase, which holds 9,267 BTC. The update was shared by CEO Simon Gerovich on X and confirmed by data from BitcoinTreasuries.com.
This move marks a significant milestone in Metaplanet’s treasury strategy, reinforcing its reputation as Asia’s answer to MicroStrategy. With its BTC stack now valued at over $1 billion, Metaplanet is signaling confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term value despite macro and geopolitical uncertainty.
